With forty-nine goals and more than 100 appearances over four seasons, Luis Mina has cemented his status as one of the premier figures in South Korea’s K League 2. Wearing the number 24 shirt for Gimpo FC, the Vallecaucan striker has earned the unwavering respect of a fanbase that chants his name every weekend at Soleo Stadium.

Standing 1.80 meters tall with a commanding athletic presence, Mina’s legacy in South Korean football is growing by the day—so much so that he now serves as the referent striker.

The archives reveal that his journey with Gimpo FC kicked off on March 5, 2023—a debut marked by a clinical strike against Cheonan City.

In an exclusive interview with La 10co, Luis Mina recalled the moment: "It was the 80th minute. Our defender played a long ball; I sprinted from the halfway line, managed to beat the center-back for pace, and he fouled me for a penalty. And well, that’s where the chance to score came from."

That performance sparked the scoring record that has since established him as the club’s flagship striker. Mina arrived with a outstading background established in Ecuador and Colombia. Universitario de Popayán, Deportes Quindío, and Macará (ECU) were the clubs that defined the opening chapter of his professional career.

It was in Popayán where he made his professional debut at age 22, inspired by his father’s passion for the beautiful game and fueled by childhood afternoons playing with friends. Now, with eight years of professional football under his belt, his ambitions remain high. Looking ahead, he hopes to face off against his nephew, Davinson Sánchez—the center-back who famously shared a locker room with Son Heung-min at Tottenham Hotspur and currently suits up for Galatasaray.
