Back in 2016, a golden midfielder arrived to Daegu FC. Coming from Ponte Petra (BRA), a Brazilian full of dreams landed for the first time in the K League 1. His name was Carlos Eduardo de Oliveira, known as Cesinha.
On the field, he was recognized for his vision in the midfield, his ability to dribble, and his powerful shot with his right foot. A few months were enough to connect with his teammates, the dynamic of Korean football, and with his supporters, Cesinha's second family
K-League experience

Cesinha's journey was an uphill battle. In his debut year, Daegu FC was diving in the second division, the K League 2. However, it was the perfect stage for the Brazilian attacking midfielder to truly shine.

With 11 goals and 8 assists, and a commanding presence that brought instant leadership to the pitch, Cesinha became the indispensable figure who powered the club's push. His stellar form was the key to securing the team's much-anticipated promotion back to the top-flight.
Once in the K League 1, he didn't just survive—he elevated his game. Season by season, he consistently remained Daegu FC's top scorer and assist provider, battling against the best teams in both South Korea and Asia. His relentless consistency and uncanny ability to deliver in crucial moments quickly made him one of the most respected and most feared, players by every rival.
One of the most glorious chapters in Cesinha's career, and in the history of Daegu FC, was the capture of the Korean FA Cup in 2018.
In a two-legged final against the powerhouse Ulsan Hyundai, the brazilian legend was the undisputed protagonist. His stellar performance, which included vital goals and exemplary leadership, guided the team to its first major title. This triumph secured more than just a trophy; it earned the club its first-ever qualification for the prestigious AFC Champions League. His performances against teams from Japan, China, and Australia captured the attention of fans across Asia, solidifying his reputation as a world-class player and the face of Daegu football.
Cultural bridge
The Daegu legend is more than just an athlete; he is a cultural bridge. He brought the passion and style of Brazilian football closer to the K-League, demonstrating that South American talent can thrive in Asia.
His success has paved the way for other Brazilian players to seek opportunities in South Korea, knowing the league is a place where they, too, can leave their mark. These players include talents like Tiago Orobó, Bruno Lamas, Anderson Oliveira, and Erick Farias, among others.

Beyond his on-field achievements, he has won the hearts of the local community. It's common to see him interacting with fans and showing a genuine appreciation for Korean culture.
Throughout his career in Daegu, he has demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt. While always a prolific goalscorer, he evolved his game over time, becoming a complete attacking midfielder—a "brain" who not only finishes plays but also creates them.
